Quartzy users can utilize the Excel import and export functions to easily copy inventory items from one lab to another in bulk.
Follow the steps below to get started:
1. Export the inventory you want to transfer from the old lab, and open the Excel file that is downloaded to your computer.
2. On each worksheet:
-
Delete Item rows. To do this quickly:
A. Filter by Item rows (Right-click on a cell that says Item > Filter > Filter by Selected Cell's Value)
B. Select all rows
C. Right-click > Delete row
D. Then, click the Row Type column > Clear Filter (to display all Instance rows)
-
Select and delete these 5 columns: Delete? (Y/N); Archived; Row Type; Serial Number; Instance ID
Important: If the user who is importing the inventory to the new lab should be made the Owner of all items, delete the column titled "Owner" as well. The user who imports the file will automatically be assigned as the owner for all items. Otherwise, make sure all of the users listed in the Owner column have been added as users to the new lab.
3. Save the file.
4. Create any freezer box locations and sublocations in the new lab before importing the file. Learn more here: Import Freezer Inventory to Quartzy interactive freezer boxes via Excel
Important: You will not be able to upload your items to freezer boxes unless you create all locations and sublocations in advance.
5. Click the Import Inventory button on the left sidebar of the Inventory module for the new lab, and follow the instructions to upload the revised file.
