Organization vs. Lab Explained

The Organization for your Quartzy account is your company or academic/government institution. Your Lab is your specific lab or team within your Organization. An Organization can have many Labs, while a Lab can only be associated with a single Organization. You may notice references to your Organization and your Lab while using Quartzy, so this page will help explain the differences between them! 

 

If your Organization is on Quartzy's Standard or Enterprise plans, Org Admins will be able to access the Manage Organization section. From this section, Org Admins can manage org members, manage the org's Quartzy subscription plan and billing settings, as well as set up Integrations and Custom Request Fields for the entire org.  

If your Organization is on Quartzy's Free plan, your Organization will not have Org Admins or a Manage Organization section. 

 

Getting to the Manage Organization page:

Note: Only Org Admins will see the gear icon next to the Org Name and be able to access the Manage Organization section. Orgs on Quartzy's free plan (academic, non-profit, government, and international) will not have a Manage Organization section. 

1. On the top left side of the toolbar, click on the Org name or Lab name to open the menu. Then click the gear icon that appears to the right of the Org name.

2. The Manage Organization section is where Org Admins can add or remove members from seats, update the subscription billing information and plan, and manage integrations and custom fields.

Getting to the Manage Labs page: 

1. On the top left side of the toolbar, click on the Org name or Lab name to open the menu. Click the gear icon that appears to the right of the lab to which you'd like to make changes.

2. The Manage Labs page is where you can add or remove users from an individual lab, manage lab settings, subscribe to backups, and more. 

Note: Only Lab Admins can make changes to certain tabs, such as Members or Lab Settings. More on this here: Lab Admin vs. Lab Member privileges explained

Navigating between Manage Labs and Manage Organization:

Tip for Org Admins: You can get to the Manage Organization page from the Manage Labs page by hovering your mouse over the Org Name on the left sidebar and clicking on the gear icon that appears next to it.
