Quartzy Connect is a browser extension that lets you create a Quartzy request without leaving a vendor's website. Browse any vendor site, open the extension when you're ready to order, and Quartzy Connect captures the item details for you, so you don't have to copy information back and forth between tabs.
This guide covers installing the extension, creating a request when fields fill in automatically, and using Click-to-Copy for the fields that don't.

Install the Extension
- Navigate to the Quartzy Connect page in the Chrome Web Store.
-
Click Add to Chrome, then confirm by clicking Add Extension.
-
Once installed, click the puzzle-piece icon in your Chrome toolbar and select the pin icon next to Quartzy Connect so it's always visible.
Note: Quartzy Connect is currently available for Google Chrome only.
Log In to Quartzy Connect
- Click the Quartzy Connect icon in your Chrome toolbar and click Continue to Quartzy if you're not already logged in.
- Log in with your existing Quartzy account, using the same email and password you use at app.quartzy.com.
- Once you're logged in, Quartzy Connect stays signed in across browsing sessions. You won't need to log in again unless you sign out.
Create a Request (Auto-Fill)
When you're on a product page you'd like to order from, Quartzy Connect can read the page and fill in as many request fields as it can find automatically.
- Navigate to the item you want to request on the vendor's website.
-
Click the Quartzy Connect icon in your toolbar to open the extension panel.
-
Quartzy Connect scans the page and fills in what it can under Item Mapping, typically Item Name, Vendor, Catalog Number, Unit Size, and Unit Price. Review each field and correct anything that isn't quite right.
-
Scroll down to Request Details and fill in the rest: Requester (defaults to you), Type, any custom fields your lab uses, and Urgent if it applies.
- Click Add Request.
You'll see a confirmation that your request was created. It lands in your lab's New Requests queue in Quartzy right away, identical to a request created directly in Quartzy, and ready for your usual approval process.
Fill in Fields Manually with Click-to-Copy
Not every vendor site is built in a way that lets Quartzy Connect read every field automatically. When a field doesn't fill in on its own, use Click-to-Copy to grab it from the page in a couple of clicks, no retyping required.
-
With the extension panel open, turn on the Click-to-Copy toggle near the top. Quartzy Connect automatically targets the first field that still needs a value, shown with a highlighted border in the panel.
- Move your cursor over the vendor's page. Quartzy Connect outlines whatever text you're hovering over so you can see what you're about to copy.
-
Clicking text fills the active field and automatically moves on to the next empty field. If the highlighted text includes additional something you don't want (eg. "Pack Size: 100 G" instead of "100 G"), click-and-drag to highlight only the desired value.
- Keep clicking through the page to fill each field in order, or click a specific field in the panel at any time to make it the target.
- If a field auto-filled with the wrong value, click it in the panel to make it the target again, then click the correct text on the page to overwrite what was there.
- Turn the Click-to-Copy toggle back off and finish filling out the request as usual (see Create a Request above).
Note: Click-to-Copy is a fallback, not a separate mode. You can use it for just the one or two fields that need it and let auto-fill handle the rest.
FAQ
Does Quartzy Connect work on any vendor's website?
Yes. There's no limit on which vendor sites work. Quartzy Connect can attempt to read any product page, and Click-to-Copy always works as a fallback if a field doesn't fill in automatically.
Do I need any special permissions to use it?
No. Any Quartzy user can install the extension and create requests with it.
Will my request look different from one created directly in Quartzy?
No. Requests submitted through Quartzy Connect look identical to requests created natively in Quartzy and go through your lab's normal approval process.
Will my lab's custom fields work in the extension?
Yes. Standard request fields like Type and Budget are pulled in automatically, as well as any custom request fields you may have.
What if none of the fields auto-fill?
Use Click-to-Copy to fill in each field manually (see Fill in Fields Manually with Click-to-Copy above). Either way, the request goes straight into Quartzy without you needing to retype anything.
